The Klingon ISF I1 Patrol Boat.
-----------------------------------------------
As the General War progressed, the Internal Security Force found itself increasingly short of vessels to patrol and maintain security of the borders of the Klingon Empire. The Orion Pirates were taking advantage of these gaping holes along the borders and were becoming increasingly bolder with raids inside the Klingon Empire.

Repeated requests to the High Council for scout frigates, hopefully of newer design, fell on deaf ears. With the War raging, the Navy and Black Fleet argued that they had a far greater need than the Internal Security Force.

The collection of ramshackle and obstelette old warships that the ISF had been handed down, over the years, had few that could be modified to serve as scouts, but these were needed as combat craft.

The fortune smiled on the ISF when one of their repair freighters, on a scavenging mission at a frontline wrecker's yard, noticed several battle damaged A3 corvette hulks that had come in from the Kzinti front. Due to the targetting methods of Kzinti Drones, the aft hulls had born the brunt of hits and were mostly destroyed. However the command bulb sections and necks, in some cases, had only received superficial energy weapons damage.

The ISF salvaged all the repairable A3 command bulb sections and reasoned that they could perhaps mate these with the common commercial twin or triple Warp engined propulsion hull unit. The High Council granted funding for the conversion project and five vessels were built.

The resultant patrol boats were designated I1, as the concept, design and modification of these vessels was carried out by the ISF's own engineers and technicians in the ISF's own repair yards.

The I1 does have a few flaws, one being that the forward shields are generated by the command bulb section and are quite good, whilst the aft shields are generated by the propulsion hull and are quite poor. However, as Klingon vessels are expected to usually be facing an enemy, this wasn't seen as a problem. Another flaw was lack of ship's compliment, especially boarding parties. Another complaint was lack of Warp speed, due to the low powered commercial Warp engines, which limited maximum speed to Warp 5.8 on a good day.

The I1 was unable to carry Drones as the hull shape left no where to place a rack.

However, the I1 was a cost effective vessel to maintain with excellent parts availability. The hangar, salvaged from derelict D6 hulks, allowed four shuttles to be carried and the nose mounted range 22 Disrupter made some compensation for the lack of Drone capability.

Operationally, the I1 acted as a scout frigate for the ISF and helped the ISF Command to coordinate interceptions of intruders, usually pirates, crossing the borders.

As the I1 was not a production run vessel from a shipyard and relied totally on salvaged parts, exact numbers constructed is unknown. More were created as and when suitable components became available to the ISF repair facilities.

Steps to install
----------------
(1) Unpack zipped file.

(2) Move the model folder to Starfleet Comamnd/Assets/Models folder. If you're smart enough to have all the races in seperate folders then place this ship in the Federation folder.

(3) Copy the Shiplist fragment and paste it into the Federation FF part of your Shiplist file in Starfleet Command/Assets/Specs/Sfbspc13.txt

(4) Modify the model folder references to suit your own SFC models directory structure.

Note: That to use these ships in a game you'll need to have at least one stock ship or station flying wingman with it otherwise the game will crash.
